I have been a classroom educator for 21 years, and have had the good fortune to be able infuse my curricula with activities, lessons, and content that challenge students to investigate, reflect upon, and answer questions about issues that impact society now and in our future in the areas of human and environmental health.
I want to create scientifically literate citizens that embody the qualities that allow them to problem-solve and communicate with others while learning mandated Standards and Benchmarks. I recognize that not all of my students will enter the STEM pipeline, but I think my philosophy can be summed-up in this response that I give to my students when they ask me why I teach- "because I want you to save the planet and end human suffering".
